Do you have multiple versions of Oracle client installed in different directories? If yes, DB Tools loads the first one it can find in the system search path, and that version tnsnames.ora file does not have the selected destination. An easy solution is to search your computer for tnsnames.ora files and make sure each of them has this destination. : I installed the DB tools for Oracle, but i cannot connect to my Oracle 8.1.6 : database. : Using SQL*plus i can connect just fine. I have installed SQL*NET Client : 2.3.4.0.0 connecting to an Oracle 8.1.6.3. : The message displayed is : ORA-12203: TNS:unable to connect to destination : However, in the Host String, it's show me the tnsnames.ora databases list.
