E-mail trigger with no subject hangs 24x7 |
|
Hi guys, after some detective work have figured out why some e-mail jobs have been hanging our 24x7 scheduler:
We want all e-mails sent to a particular account to be processed by 24x7, so I've set the Subject trigger to *, ditto the body ('text').
(This actually drops e-mails with no subject or body as asterisk doesn't match nulls---I raised this in 2008 http://www.softtreetech.com/support/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22658)
What I've found is if the user leaves the e-mail subject empty, and the client doesn't create a 'Subject:' line in the e-mail headers, this will hang 24x7--it's unresponsive and will sit forever on 100% CPU.
Note most e-mail clients do create a Subject: header and then leave it empty. This won't hang 24x7.
Would appreciate a fix for this, it's bad news when our scheduler goes down.
24x7 multi-platform 4.4 build 322, JVM 1.5.0_22-b03, Windows XP Pro.
Cheers
