Post RAS with NT Reply with quote

Hello, could you please give me an example on how to use the RAS Dial up with Windows NT 4.0 and how to close the connection form within 24x7?

Thanks a lot,

Phil

Phil,

First, setup Remote Access Services (RAS) on Windows NT for use with a PPP account. Before you start, you should have Windows NT networking support loaded on your system. In particular, you need to have the TCP/IP protocol loaded. Other protocols (IPX, NetBEUI) are not needed for your PPP connection. Consult your system manuals for information about loading network software from your installation disks or CD.

Second, configure RAS: double-click on the Remote Access Services icon to run RAS, if desired create a new entry or configure an existing one. Make sure to set PhoneBookEntry, Username, and Password and other required parameters. Consult your PPP service provider for details on the correct parameters.

Third, code 24x7 script to establishing Dial-Up connection:

Dim process_id, number
Dim window_handle, number

// Connect to ISP
Run( "Rasphone -d ", "c:\winnt\system32", process_id )
// Where is the name of the phonebook entry that you
// want to automatically dial. If your phonebook entry contains spaces, you
// must enclose it in quotations, such as "My Phonebook Entry".
// In the last case, the command will look like:
// Run( "Rasphone -d \"My Phonebook Entry\"", "c:\winnt\system32", process_id )

// Wait 60 seconds to allow Dial-Up networking to initiate the connection
Wait( 60 )

// do something here
// ...
// done

// To disconnect from ISP, simple close Dial-Up window
WindowFind( "Connect To%", window_handle )
WindowClose( window_handle )

NOTE: If you logon to Windows NT using account other than the account specified in the "My Phonebook Entry", the first time the PASHPONE command is run, it will request the user name, password, and domain name. If you save the password during the first dial-up, it will not prompt you again.
