Post Oracle auditing based on application Reply with quote

Hello all,

Has anyone had the need to audit Oracle SQL based on the application? For example, I need to audit statements that were issued from SQL*Plus, and not from other tools - like Oracle Apps. Does this product do that?

Thank you

Nalini

You can audit data changes by application and filter out all changes made from SQL*Plus using inclusive filter type or if you use an exclusive filter you can audit changes made from any application but the Oracle Apps.

For user activity auditing (SELECTs, EXECUTEs, UPDATEs, CREATEs, etc...) there is no application name filter support for Oracle at this time. However if your Oracle Apps are run mostly on the server you can filter out anything that comes from all other places and/or users and this way find all backdoor access.

Hello, thank you for your prompt response. I need to be able to audit updates as well. Could you point me to documentation that tells me exactly what can be audited and how, using your product?

Is there a way we can get a demo of the product?

If you need to know only which table(s) got updated, when, by whom, and how (SQL command), read CHAPTER 3, for a config screen example, see page 34.
If you need to know what exactly got changed including before update and after update values, read CHAPTER 4, for a config screen example, see page 82
