99.7% hit ratio is surely a good number. It is just better then necessary. This number is achieved by using more then needed memory for the buffers. The comments suggest that you can realign this memory and use the excess for something else, for example, add it to sort memory area to avoid sorts involving disk access. : I used the Monitor Buffer Cache, and saw: Physical Reads : 139943 : Logical Reads : 53688646 : Hit Ratio : 0.9973934339860238 : Comments : Data Buffer Hit Ratio is greater than 95%. You are wasting valuable system : memory. Consider decreasing the DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS parameter : Isn't this 100% wrong? Surely (if you believe in the value of Hit Ratios), a : 99% Hit Ratio is good, not bad!
