After installing the product on a machine with only 8i installed the program keeps complaining about ora803.dll not found is there a work around for this?

You have the following options:
1) Install Oracle Call Interface (OCI), this will add ora803.dll.
2) Install Oracle Required Support Files (ORSF) for any of the previous versions (for example Oracle 7.3 ) then select Oracle 7.3 DBMS in the ORACLE Monitor tools when connecting to the database.
3) Install Oracle ODBC driver (you can get it for free from Oracle)
then select ODBC DBMS in the ORACLE Monitor tools when connecting to the database.

Any of the options above should help.
