Post DB Difference Expert Reply with quote

With regards to your DB Difference Expert trial version, is the creator of the repository the required user to do the data comparisons? Does a database link have toexist between the two databases to allow database to database comparison of a table that exists in the same schema? When trying to do a comparison between data in tables in the same schema from two different databases, the tool returns no differences even though differences truly exist between the tables. Thank you in advance for your support.

The repository can be created by any user with admin privileges. If you want other non-admin users to be able to access the repository and run DB Difference simply grant them SELECT/INSERT/DELET/UPDATE privileges on tables in ORA_MONITOR schema. If you wish you can also grant these permissions to PUBLIC.

In order to compare data in two different databases you must have a valid database link that would allow DB Difference to work with both tables as if they were both "local" tables.

If you do not select the correct link or the link is invalid or points to the same database or you have insufficient permissions to use the link or access data in the "remote" database (the one accessed through the link) you may get an empty result because the comparison query will fail and return no data.

Normally you should get an error message if something goes wrong.
