Post dbtools with 9.2/odbc Reply with quote

Hi...Is dbtools supported with 9.2? I downloaded dbtools
and tried to connect to my data source in the DB Tools Database Setup phase
but receive:
Unable to connect to database!
SQLSTATE=NA000 [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]

SQL*Plus client connection works.
There is no ODBC Test utility with 9.2 but
I could test the System DSN when I configured it
and the connect succeeded for all three DSN's I configured.
Also configured a User DSN with Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver.

Also I have the administrator's client software installed
so JDBC/OCI and ODBC and Networking components are installed
and work fine. Has anyone successfully configured db tools against 9.2?

Thanks.

Yes, it is supported. Any particular reason why you are trying to connect through ODBC?

If not, try connection using "Oracle 8.04 - and above" native driver. For the rest of the parameters specify the same values that you use with SQL*Plus.
Please note that nether SQL*Plus or DB Tools native database drivers use ODBC/JDBC or other middle-ware software. Native database drivers "talk" directly to Oracle SQLNet.

Ok it is working now. I had configured the Oracle drivers in System DSN
and the Microsoft driver in User DSN but did not have the Oracle driver
configured in the User DSN.
: Thanks.

Whoops ok...For some reason I thought ODBC was the method to use for connecting
but I will use the native drivers. Either way, so long as it works :-)
: Thanks.
