WE UPGRADED OUR DATABASE FROM 8.1.5 TO 8.1.7 RUNNING ON NT.
We did not re-install DB-mail which is version 1.1.03
PREVIOUSLY OUR ATTACH FILE WAS RUNNING OK FROM A DIRECTORY WHICH MAPPED ONTO
C:\Agrinet

Now the attach_file function is failing Error ORA-22285
Non existent directory or file for fileopen operation

Has something changed at 8.1.7 ?

Can you attach files from other directories?

Check the status of the DIRECTORY object
SELECT STATUS FROM ALL_OBJECTS WHERE ...

Also check that you still have permissions to access that OS file/directory from Oracle.

The STATUS for the DIRECTORY object being used is VALID.

The permissions on FOLDER are ok also.

I have not tried to ATTACH to another folder, as of yet.

We solved problem by giving READ access on the DIRECTORY object to SYSTEM.
