Post [12.4.476 Pro] - BUG: Properties in Database Explorer Reply with quote
There's a minor bug with showing the properties of the object selected in the Database Explorer. When hitting F4 on the selected object, SA shows a dialog with the properties of the selected object. This seemingly works even for objects in a different database than the current one, but that's an illusion. In case the current database has the same object (same type, same name), the properties shown in the dialog belong to the object in the current database, not to the one that's selected in the Database Explorer. In case the current database does not have the same object, the dialog is still shown but with empty properties.

Check out this short video here.

This should either show the properties of the correct (selected) object or if it is not possible to show properties in different databases than the current one, it shall throw a warning instead of displaying misleading information.

Here's the script to reproduce the error:

Code:

USE [master]
GO

IF DB_ID('test_db_one') IS NOT NULL DROP DATABASE [test_db_one];
GO
IF DB_ID('test_db_other') IS NOT NULL DROP DATABASE [test_db_other];
GO

CREATE DATABASE [test_db_one];
CREATE DATABASE [test_db_other];
GO

USE [test_db_one]
CREATE ROLE [test_role_first];
CREATE ROLE [test_role_second];
GRANT ALTER ON DATABASE::[test_db_one] TO [test_role_first];
GRANT ALTER ANY ASSEMBLY ON DATABASE::[test_db_one] TO [test_role_second];
GO

USE [test_db_other]
CREATE ROLE [test_role_first];
GRANT ALTER ANY CERTIFICATE ON DATABASE::[test_db_other] TO [test_role_first];

Thanks you so much. We reproduced the issue, and will try to fix it as soon as possible.
