It appears there is indeed a database retrieval involved if show extended object information option is enabled. It pulls comments and some other object and column attributes from the database which are not cached. Disabling that option and restarting the editor should speed up the tree filtering. My apologies for misleading you earlier. I wasn't aware of that dependency.

Are you talking about "Show Extended Properties" under Hide/Show in database explorer?

If so that definitely helped.
