Premature "Evaluation period expired"

Some trial users get "Evaluation period expired" message even on the first OMS run immediately after the installation. If you are among them take the following steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Make sure your WIN.INI file is not write-protected.
  2. Make sure that in WIN.INI you have non-zero value for the STTM2 in the [Index] section.
  3. If you still have the problem check and if necessary correct the system registry. You can use REGEDIT.EXE to do so. This is the case when your system is setup to force .INI file mapping.
3.1.  Open the registry then locate and expand. \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping key. Click on the sample picture for help.
3.2.   Find and expand WIN.INI subkey.
3.3.   Add new Index subkey (Edit/New/Key menu) if it doesn't exist yet.
3.4.   Add new STTM2 value of STRING type (Edit/New/String value menu)  if it doesn't exist yet.
3.5.   Double-click on the STTM2 value. "Edit sting" dialog appears. Copy STTM2 value from the WIN.INI file. Click OK then exit Registry Editor. Try ORACLE Monitor again.

Registry Editor

We also have idendified another reason for this problem: This problem can be related to the regional settings on your computer. See Control Panel/Regional Setting. Most likely that you have designated space as a thousands separator in numeric format (see example).

We do currently support only standard American and European formats that use either comma (,) or period (.) as a separators for thousands and for decimal parts of numbers.

Valid examples:
3,451,234.55
3.451.234,55

Invalid examples:
3 451 234.55
3 451 234,55

Please update settings on your computer to use commas and periods, not spaces.
