Unable to retain Job changes |
|
We created a virtual server and freshly installed 24x7 v3.4.26. Tested all jobs and applications with no problems. The scheduler was running as a window service. We then copied the virtual server image and prorogate it on another virtual host server. Both VM were down. We brought up the copy version and reconfigure the server. Then we brought up both VMs. We were able to test both 24x7 schedulers with no problem. There were no adjustments done.
Then we implemented one VM as production. We copied over the legacy production job DAT file and opened it within the scheduler.
When we run a job that uses a file path for a parameter value, the job no longer recognizes it.
What would be the best action to take to correct this problem? ~ Thank you

Windows services have lots of limitations, for example, they cannot access network files using mapped network shares, they must use UNC path instead, they cannot access certain local and network resources and generally affected by different security settings. Any job started from a service including child processes created by that job fall under the same umbrella. Please note that this is not specific to 24x7 service. it is a general Windows design.
Please make sure the file path you're providing is a UNC path, and is accessible to the user that the service runs as.

Yes, the file path is fully qualified on the server the 24x7 scheduler is running on. So the jobs run locally to the server and the path starts with C:\....

Please enable the debug trace, run the job again, and let us know what error is being reported in either scheduler, debug, or job logs.

Trace is now enabled and task is running in background as a windows service.
