Post Sharing DB connection in W7 and SQLServer2008 Reply with quote
Hi!
I have a brand new notebook. My problem is when I change database in Management Studio, SQLAssistant does not change its own DB context, still staying in master database.

Softwares:
- Windows 7 Profesional final version
- MSSQL 2008 Developers Edition
- SQLAssistant 4.7.11

I have tried a lot of tricks read in this forum. Management Studio and SQLAssistant are started in admin mode (even XP compatibility mod). It didn't help. I checked in Management Studio SQLAssistan plug-in is properly installed and registered. When I stop the SQLAssistant program in system tray, SQLAssistan plug-i in ssms still is working. Theoretically SQLAssistant is sharing db connections with target editor.

I don't know why, first time I'm writing a select statement, a SQLAssist connection dialog appears:

There is no difference if I choose Windows Authentication or SQL Server authentication, ODBC or ADO.NET connection type. After clicking on button Connect it connects to master (or a database, if I wrote one) and it staying there.

The same configuration on my old WinXP machine worked without any problems. The only different is I have changed my OS to Win7. Maybe there is some compatibility issue with Win7?

I have not idea, please help me.

I think you will need to upgrade SQL Assistant to version 4.8.29 or later which includes additional compatibility changes for latest versions of SSMS 2008
