Post SQL Assistant version 4.8 has been released Reply with quote
SQL Assistant build 4.8.24 is now available for download

New features and enhancements
1. Redesigned SQL Intellisense for manually activated prompts using Ctrl+Space hotkey. Manually activated Intellisense prompts are now much smarter and in most cases match or exceed functionality of automatic while-you-type context prompts.
2. SQL Assistant now supports both old and new version of MySQL client and server software up to version v5.4. MySQL clients 4.x can now be used for connections to MySQL 5.x servers.
3. Column-name based JOIN suggestions are now available for use with Oracle synonyms.
4. In JOIN suggestions prompts column-level is now automatically expanded if a choice of tables available for joining is 4 or less.
5. New "Never" option added for Always Add Delimiters options.
6. Scripting Table Data function now supports breaking long scripts into batches and adding progress of work messages. (bcp utility style)
7. Performance optimizations of data-previews. SQL Assistant is now using query syntax allowing the database server to choose the best execution plan. Performance gain for data-preview typically exceeds 400% in SQL Server and Oracle, when data-preview is used with large tables and complex views.
8. Forced auto-complete (Ctrl+Space) is now supported for partially entered variable names beginning with @ prefix.
9. All SQL Reference popup windows can be closed without reaching the mouse, using just the ESC key.
10. Fonts in SQL Assistant Options dialogs replaced with TrueType fonts optimized for multiple screen resolutions.
11. Enhanced integration with different types and versions of SQL Server Management Studio and Management Studio Express
12. Compatibility changes for latest versions of ApexSQL, Notepad++, and other SQL editors.
13. First time database connections are now validated for consistency. That is to assist novices, who often choose mismatching database connection and SQL assistance types, and later struggle with various errors.
14. Updated documentation.

Bug fixes:
1. SQL Assistant add-on registration for SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Management Studio Express may fail if certain system files are missing on the target system..
2. Incorrect line highlighting after * symbol in several types of editors when * appears in the top line.
3. Issue causing conflicts with Notepad++ and other Scintilla based editors – before the fix non-Latin characters couldn't be entered while SQL Assistant was used.
4. Syntax-check bar moves horizontally when using SQL Assistant with MySQL Query Browser, syntax auto-check turned off and using horizontal scrolling.
5. TAB key cannot be used as an item selection key with Scintilla based editors.
6. Incorrect highlighting of syntax errors in several types of SQL Server editors – wrong line is highlighted on the screen.
7. Erratic data-type prompts
8. SQL parser hanging while parsing certain types of MySQL backup scripts.
9. SQL Assistant encloses local variable names in double quotes when name = keyword.
10. Secondary FROM clause is inserted into certain types of SELECT queries when SQL Assistant prompt is invoked in a middle of existing query.
11. SQL Assistant crashes while importing from previously saved settings if the Import Options dialog is invoked while the About tab is active and a settings file.
12. Background syntax check interferes with and could abort code execution.
13. Alias are automatically generated and added to tables and columns in queries generated after picking a table or view in a prompt following SELECT keyword.
14. SQL Assistant looses database connection context and misses database context changes occurring during code execution in SQL Server Management Studio.
15. Bug causing "unsupported buffer type" error with certain types of MYSQL client and server software packages.
16. Integration with Microsoft Access broken in several 4.6.x and 4.7.x builds.
