Post Remote Control and Run as Service Reply with quote

I'm working with the 30 day trial and trying to get this config running:
Windows 2003 Server 1: Master, running as service
Windows 2003 Server 2: Standby, running as service
XP PC 1: Remote control of Master

I can get the Master and Standby talking to one another if I run them as regular windows, and I can remote to the master from my PC.

However, when I set the Master to run as a service, then the standby server won't talk to it, nor will my remote control session.

What I want is a fault tolerant set of servers that will run in the background since they are on 2003 servers and need to run jobs overnight with no one logged on. How can I use 24x7 to get that?

thanks,
jerry

You will not be able to do that with a trial version.
The solution: do not run 24x7 as a service while in trial mode.
Reason: when running as a service the trial version requires LocalSystem account and Allow Service Interact with the Desktop option so it can display the evaluation reminder dialog. However, the LocalSystem account is not usable for network communications and this is the only account that supports the Desktop option.

Thanks. Just to clarify, the configuration I want will work with a licensed version, correct?

Yes, it will. Just a note, in order to have the service start automatically with the machine without anyone logged in, set it to run under domain admin ccount.
