Email Connectivity |
|
See my previous message regarding email connectivity, we now have 24x7 working with email, but each script which sends an email, now hangs up after executing the SendMail code. Suggestion?

1. Are you sure it hangs on the SendMail line and not before or after that while doing something else? Have you tried to run the script in the debugger? If you have tracing options enabled, do you see any additional errors or warning in the trace window? 2. Do you have ani anti-virus tools installed on the computer? If yes, do you email filtering or other email-related anti-virus options enabled? If yes, what are they? 3. Does the actual email get sent/received? : See my previous message regarding email connectivity, : we now have 24x7 working with email, but each script : which sends an email, now hangs up after executing : the SendMail code. : Suggestion?

The script has only 1 line....the send mail line. The message is actually sent. The job log shows......job started, message sent, finish message sent. There is no antivirus software installed at this time. Trace window shows nothing....a blinking cursor after the sendmail line. See the actual script which I pasted into my original question. Does not hang the system up in debug, but I cannot tell that the script actually completes either. Further suggestions?

"Finish message sent" message indicates that the job was completed and then the "on finish" notification action was executed. So the job does not hand while executing MailSend. Something else is happening there. Please check what you have for the job notification action. : The script has only 1 line....the send mail line. : The message is actually sent. : The job log shows......job started, message sent, finish message sent. : There is no antivirus software installed at this time. : Trace window shows nothing....a blinking cursor after : the sendmail line. : See the actual script which I pasted into my original question. : Does not hang the system up in debug, but I cannot tell : that the script actually completes either. : Further suggestions?

We can run without this, but I am still curious as to why this would happen. Currently we have 'trace' enabled but not status, as status seems to be somehow related to our hangups.

: Is this an old WinNT 4.0 machine? See my original post, it is a new NT 4.0 machine with SP6A installed.

The machine is new, but I think the version of NT 4.0 that was installed is old. Even if you applied recent service packs your system still has some outdated system files and this causes problems with multi-threading. Anyway, the job status window is non essential and can be disabled. : See my original post, it is a new NT 4.0 machine : with SP6A installed.
