Post NT service stops Reply with quote

I have 24x7 running as an NT service. Sometimes I login and start the 24x7 GUI to make changes/add new jobs. When I close 24x7, I get a prompt saying "Are you sure you want to shutdown 24x7?" (meaning the GUI I assume). When I say "yes", it appears that the NT service for 24x7 is also shutting down, which I do not want to happen. The NT event log shows the following:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( 24x7 Scheduler ) could
not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): 9/29/00 11:47:24

0 0 24x7 Scheduler 24x7 Scheduler terminating....

If I restart the service, everything appears to be OK. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can use the GUI without stopping the service?
Thanks!

Are you sure it happens when you exit the GUI and not in some other event?
The line "24x7 Scheduler terminating..." is written by the GUI. The service writes "[24x7 service] 24x7 Scheduler terminating...". May be the service stops when you log off?

After additional testing, i've found that i can't consistantly recreate it by just closing the GUI. So, I agree that this could be a result of some other event. The service is running under my userid. Is it better or more reliable to run under the system account? Are there any known events that can cause only the 24x7 service to stop? Thanks for your assistance!!!

What make you think that the service stops? There is no message in the event log.

Running services under different accounts does not make them better or more reliable, they just inherited different permission. The LocalSystem account allows any service to start before user is logged on but such service will not be able to access network resources.
