Post Database Connect Problems Reply with quote

I am getting the error...
Error 170 (rc -1) : Line 1: Incorrect syntax near 'Local'.
when running the code...
DatabaseConnect ( "Local" )
DatabaseDisconnect
when i try to use any database connectivity (either local or remote).

The database profile (named Local) has been configures as both SQL7 & ODBC, both which pass a connectivity test. I have tried every sample code snip I can find, all generating a syntax error. Logging generates the same error.

Obviously I want to do something between the connect & disconnect, but I seem to have a fundamental problem to overcome first. I am using the beta version 2.0.0, on NTW service pack 4. SQL Server is installed localy on the machine.

Any Ideas ?

1. Try using full version (not beta). You can freely download it from 24x7 home page
2. Error 170 is returned by your db server. Check master..sysmessages for the explanation for this error.
3. Can you describe how you have setup your database profile?

1. Sorry, I think I am using the full product, just thought it was beta. I am however using the service exe from 1.6.? as I get %1 is not a valid nt application from full install of 2.0.0. This error occurs using both service & desktop sheduling, however.

2. Server error desc is...Line %d: Incorrect syntax near '%.*ls'.
I am not quite sure what the 24x7 command is doing, but this SQL Server message does not mean to much to me. I'll check Technet.

3. I have tried almost every combination of profile settings (ie isolation levels, auto commit & asynchronous settings , but still get this error. Connections always seem to test OK.

1. For more info on the 24x7 service error please see the previous discussion thread. Also note that there is the new 2.0.1, posted today, that also fixes this problem.

2 and 3. Please enable tracing in the database profile and send the trace file to support@softtreetech.com.
